NSM-Downers Grove First United Methodist Church


 

North Street Mission

Monday evening June 12, 2023 we welcomed a youth group from Downers Grove First United Methodist Church.  They are from a southwest suburb of Chicago.    

Tuesday morning the group worked our breakfast program.  After breakfast the group had a discussion with a homeless person about the issues facing them today.  In the afternoon the group went to Sonnenberg Village in Kidron, Ohio.  The group worked outside moving wood until they got rained out.  The group then discussed Trinity, homeless and Sonnenberg Village.  Ray Leisy gave the group a tour of the Village and (Ray & Allyson) provided a pizza dinner.

Follow the group this week!

Wednesday morning the group again worked our breakfast program.  After breakfast, Joan and Sally discussed the history of the breakfast program.  After lunch the group went to work at the local Habitat for Humanity Restore.  After the Restore the group helped Trinity's children's program "CAT."

May 25, 2023 There are no pictures today.  Sorry.😞   After a 10 hour flight from New York and a 10-11 hour bus ride, we finally made it to our hotel.  It was 10:00 when we arrived and it was great to be able to stand up and walk around.  We are four hours ahead of Ohio.  I’ll have pictures tomorrow.  😊 May 26, 2023 Today was a day full of Ghanaian culture!     We visited a wonderful batik artist. She and her artists cut designs in foam, dip them in very hot wax, shake them off and print the wax on cloth.
