NSM - College of Wooster Fall Break October 2018

We welcomed our second group from the College of Wooster this year during their fall break.  There were five college students and two College staff.  
The group worked three days in our breakfast program, one afternoon with Habitat and one afternoon with People to People.  They met with Awareness in Motion and visited MOCA house.

We at North Street Mission want groups to have a meaningful week and hope that they continue to go on mission trips in the future.  Part of this process involves getting feedback from the groups.  Here is a summary of the feedback from the College of Wooster group:

Faith Formation Opportunities after Sunday Worship

Our fall Faith Formations programs (Sunday School) start-up September 30, 2018.  We offer Faith Formation opportunities for all ages after worship Sundays from 10:45 - 11:45.

Adults - two classes offered

Note - The first Sunday, September 30, 2018 all adults will meet in the Parlor and talk with our German Visitor, Rev. Sabine Sarpe.

Rev. Kevan Franklin - This class is in the Chapel and starts 10/14/18
Kevan's ABC class is approaching the Bible creatively.  Thinking aloud is allowed!

Finding Joy - taught by Herb Broda and Janet Burkhart.  This class is in the Parlor and starts 10/7/18

Each Wednesday from 6:30 pm-7:15 pm in the Chapel, we will gather for prayers and observe the presence of Christ in Communion. We will be exploring some of the parables of Jesus together to discover what meaning we might find in them for our own time. Join us in prayer and communion as we observe a mid-week pause to refresh and remember God’s presence in our lives.

The service is located in the chapel on the second floor which is handicapped accessible.

On September 4-20, 2018 Pastor Kevan Franklin and his wife Ella along with Trinity members John & Sue Muskopf will be travelling to Germany with a group from the Ohio Conference of the United Church of Christ.  The group will be exploring the German roots of our UCC heritage.

We welcomed students from the College of Wooster to North Street Mission!  The group worked two mornings in our breakfast program, one morning at St. James community lunch and afternoons at Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army and Moca House.

- I witnessed a number of poor and homeless who were so grateful for the meal services that the local churches provide, not only for the food but also for the community of friends.
- The people, in particular the veterans, who are displaced and homeless.
- I was unaware of the amount of struggling people in Wooster.
