NSM - College of Wooster August 2018

We welcomed students from the College of Wooster to North Street Mission!  The group worked two mornings in our breakfast program, one morning at St. James community lunch and afternoons at Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army and Moca House.

We at North Street Mission want groups to have a meaningful week and hope that they continue to go on mission trips in the future.  Groups are also encouraged to visit us sometime in the future!  Part of the process involves getting feedback from the groups.  Here is a summary from this group:

Survey Responses....

- I witnessed a number of poor and homeless who were so grateful for the meal services that the local churches provide, not only for the food but also for the community of friends.

- The people, in particular the veterans, who are displaced and homeless.

- I was unaware of the amount of struggling people in Wooster.

- See how considerate and polite the homeless and low income communities were at the breakfast program really helped to eliminate some of my worries.

- The breakfast program impacted me the most because I was directly interacting with the community members living in poverty.

- What lessons or values did you learn?

It reinforced that people are people-human beings with dignity no matter what their financial status.

- Be humble, kind and help others.

- The entire experience reinforced my appreciation and commitment to true service.

- People come from all paths and walks of life, but they're still people and deserve to be treated as such.

- The importance to be accepting of all people and to act in ways that will leave a positive impact.
