NSM - Richfield UCC June 2018

We welcomed the youth group from Richfield UCC Church to North Street Mission!  The group worked all five mornings at breakfast, two afternoons at People to People Ministries, one afternoon at Sonnenberg Village in Kidron, one afternoon at MOCA house and an evening and morning at Templed Hills church camp.

We at North Street Mission want groups to have a meaningful week and hope that they continue to go on mission trips in the future.  Groups are also encouraged to visit us sometime in the future!  Part of the process involves getting feedback from the groups.  Here is a summary of the feedback from the Richfield UCC group:

I believe NSM can make a difference by...

- Putting a smile on people's faces every single morning.  Making people feel like they are worth something.

- Love and understanding among the Wooster community.

- Spreading information about this mission opportunity.  Continuing to host mission trips;  feeding the hungry.

- Feeding those in need and making their lives a little bit better.

Connecting the workers and the people whom they serve in a positive way.

- Helping those in need and bringing kindness to people.

- Spreading joy.

Survey responses...

- My conviction that service opportunities are one of the best "witnesses" to the world for youth to learn and grow in faith.

- Be more aware of poverty in my local area and how it is being "addressed or not";  same for mental health.

- Amount of poverty that Wooster as compared to what you see on the streets.

- Thank-you for showing me what caring for the less fortunate is like on a grand scale.

- We take so much for granted and we need to appreciate what we have.

- Making someone happy can just take a "good morning" or a smile.

- Work efficiently and listen.  I will have an open mind.

- Mixing cement, laying frames for sidewalks and to cook certain foods.

- It was excellent.  Thank you so much for everything!

- The kitchen crews were very friendly and showed caring to people that came to breakfast.

- Showing respect with people with mental disabilities.

- Interacting with the people that we served at breakfast.

- That we take too many things for granted.
